Birchermüesli.

Two nights ago, Ben awoke from an apparently delicious dream at 4am. He then woke me to ask,
Do we have all the ingredients to make Birchermüesli?
Me: I don't think so... and are you seriously hungry right NOW?
Then I rolled over and went back to sleep.

He ended up eating crackers and cheese for breakfast that morning.
I had a slice of toast and tea.

I was introduced to Birchermüesli when I married my [100%] Swiss man. We weren't married more than a month before he hinted that I call his mom or aunt and learn how to make it. I happily obliged and I am glad that I did! (he is too.)

It was breakfast yesterday and this morning, and we'll probably have it tomorrow as well (it makes that much). It turns out different every time, but I think yesterday's batch was my favorite so far.

Here is the basic recipe-- you can add to it from there.

Birchermüesli.

Smash 2 bananas
add
Juice of 1 lemon
Grate 3 apples, skin on
Add 1 can crushed pineapple
Mix in 3/4c Quaker oats (not instant)
1/4c wheat germ 1/4c sunflower seeds
Incorporate 16oz plain yogurt
and 1/3(ish) cup honey
Season with cinnamon to taste.

Cover and refrigerate over night.
Serve topped with any fresh fruit and a splash of cream.
Enjoy!

Ideas for additional mix in's:
golden raisins
ground almonds
chopped walnuts
flax seeds
I always add two scoops of Super Seed per batch (you can also find it on Amazon)

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
So, how's that for fiber??
